1963 Shasta Travel Trailor Revival & Remod
The Legacy:
original counters and propane light |
original appliances |
example of water damage |
The Damage:
One of the advantages of being a grand daughter of The Campbell's is they take care of their stuff. Though the little Shasta sat outside unloved for so many years it was pretty well preserved. Meaning not every birch panel had to be replaced but the areas with serious water damage in the corners needed new wood. Here is the list of new items(not to include all the labor and incidentals it took to accomplish each task $$$( obviously DIY saves the dough) New tires, wood paneling in front, water tank, cleaned dust corrode and wasp nests from air conditioner/heater/fridge units, ozonated the musty smell, changed all interior/exterior electrical to LED ( so you don't need a generator to run your lights and water pump) additional lights added but kept original propane lamps, added shelves to toilet room turned closet years ago ( Yes my G'Pa still has the original commode and was actually offended I didn't take it to plant flowers in ha!) new flooring that is actually gymnasium grade flooring that was a scrap piece and a perfect fit, added quilted aluminum to entire front of trailer and kitchen back splash, replaced wood in door and fixed lock, caulked all seams and windows, new brake system, fixed a few broken drawers, reupholstered all cushions, painted appliances, powder coated cabinet knobs, purchased an inverter and travel Treager Grill, sandblasted the paint and it shined up really well (thank gosh cuz I am outa money) shined up the original wings, converted metal awning to shelf, added new stickers and finally my hard work on the painted chalk wall and curtains!! Note to self....when pulling the new pretty new trailer in fresh fallen snow and over de-iced roads make sure to COMPLETELEY wipe down stainless or else it will result in another 8 hrs of buffing out the rust once the cover is pulled of in the spring....yes I had a village involved in helping me resolve this tragedy!!!! I am sure I missed a bunch of fixer upper items and jargon that is listed on my invoices but there it is folks! If you don't want to tackle it yourself I know guy who knows a guy that can restore anything. Last item...My G'Pa paid $750 in 1965.....50 years later I am $7500 invested into the restoration of a family gem..and a business right off. Well worth it!!!!! Oh and about the famous sister.....Her name is Amy Purdy the amazing Amy we call her....adaptive snowboard pioneer, Sochi bronze medalist, 2014 Dancing with the Stars spring runner up , Co founder of Adaptive Action Sports, public speaker, actress, Model and new author of On My Own Two Feet, and the best friend and sister I know!!!(yes she was ticked I got the trailer before her, but if she wasn't so busy making a difference in the world maybe she would have beat me!)www.amypurdy.com

Get your Orange Crush on!!!!
This wall is the best color! It doesnt startle you when you walk in the room it invites you...... |
Game room with a fun art focal point..Thanks to Pier One for that!
This scheme is a an urban industrial mix with medium wood tones, metals, grey ,linen and putty as the base colors and some orange love!!
Sometimes all you need is a pillow and a book with your accent color to pull a room together and flow with the rest of the house!
I actually wish I would have had a tone on tone chevron rug for the photos but the pillows are my favorite! I got them at (tar-jay) aka Target!
This has an orange mirror and a mix of funky chairs.Sorry the pic is not so good!
The next pics are from other random houses I have done but I must like orange or variations of it! This room is really warm and comfortable the walls are actually a bit on the caramel side, I do love a bit of animal print when the mood of the room needs it! This is man cave any woman would like to share! My point when decorating it EXACTLY!
The chest actually inspired this room, then I found the fun tangerine and turquoise pillows and the travel theme followed ......
Adored these muted orange velvet host and hostess chairs. A fun way to mix up a boring dining table!
Little girls garden party tea room.........
And who says you can't mix red and orange...This is one of my favorite rooms using these three colors of the rainbows!!! Hope I have inspired you to have a color crush on your house!www.allureinteriorsinc.com

Purple Passion..... the wall detail is created with high gloss paint of the same color as the base and stenciled over the top. |
Sugar Pie Honey Bunch :) I was excited to have a room that would be perfect for a memory board style head board. |
Ahoy Matey!! The drapes in this room are hung on hardware made from a long bamboo rod and captain's hooks costume wear. |
Candy Apple Green This room is really Happy!!! The drapes are hung on medallions made with dowels and hot glued flowers. |
Shark Bait. Bedding from www.pbteen.com |
Bubblegum Baby Any easy art solution is to frame scrapbook paper and hang from decorative knobs and ribbon like over the crib. |
Dirt Bike Boy Tires for a nightstand & tool chest for a dresser... Why not!!! I did! |
BSU FEVER bedding from www.ebay.com |
Where The Wild Things Are! The framed art is from the local zoo here in Boise! |
Outa This World The orange canvas has all the planets written around in a circular pattern for another art addition. |
Retro Rosie the Riveter I loved doing this vintage theme! |
Garden Tea Party A mess of pillows & gingham curtains embellished with large ric rac for color. |
Hush Little Baby The artwork has the nursery rhyme written in white on a black canvas . |
Half Pipe Oh my amazing bro-in-law built this for bed for me!! |
Polka Dots Thanks to my painter who perfectly placed all those 2" dots! |
Camo/Boyscout How do you find bedding for a boyscout /camp/fish room?? I had pillows made of t-shirts I found at Wal-Mart of course!! |
Peace,Love & Happiness Frame quotes painted on the wall for another artwork solution!! |
Cowboys & Indians I couldn't help myself but to have a tee-pee for the headboard, a lasso wrapped around the room and The Lone Ranger adorn the walls! |
Don't let the bed bugs bite! The itsy-bitsy spider is crawling right over the bed on the water spout!!! |
Wakeboard That chair is made from a broken wakeboard and an Adirondack chair. I am glad my idea worked out! |
Sk8er The headboard is decks screwed to 2 x 4 and attached to the wall. Still one of my favorite designs!!!! |
